The Ball...

Final day of teaching, a bank holiday weekend, dissertations handed in – what better reasons do you need for the biggest party of the year? The May Ball is back! Friday 2nd May 2008 is the date and make sure you don’t miss out on what promises to be the biggest event of the year. The ball is held in the grounds of the University from 9.30pm – 6am and includes the main stage, acoustic room, chill out room, SUB as well as a separate marquee hosting Headphone Disco, the food court and an even bigger fairground than in previous years. Also new this year will be the VIP room which will have it’s own separate bar and decor specifically for those who don’t want to queue – keep an eye out for the special VIP tickets that will go on sale, there are a limited amount so get in there early.

One of the biggest problems that we always have is the queues that you guys have to face, so this year we’re putting in extra bars to try and make sure you get served quickly. Something else that is new this year will be the “cashless” bar system. There’ll be more information forthcoming but it’s gonna be a bit like a festival, your purchase your drinks vouchers, hand them in at the bar and that’s it! No messing around waiting for change, double checking that you have been short changed – nice and easy. Vouchers will be available for purchase before the event so that you can spread the cost of the night over a few weeks and they’ll also be available to buy on the night as well.

In previous years we’ve been privileged to have acts such as Mylo, Pendulum, Fun Lovin Criminals, Colin Murray, Trevor Nelson to name but a few. As always we’re working hard any getting you the best acts that we can to cover as many genres as possible. As soon as acts have been confirmed they’ll be posted on www.uniballs.co.uk along with all their information. Tickets will go on sale soon and be available from the normal UDSU outlets but also from www.derbytickets.co.uk.

Updates:

Please be aware that there is a misprint on the MayBall flyers and a single spirit and mixer is £2.00 not £2.50. The prices on the bar tariff are correct.
